Cherry Designs, Inc. (CDI) has been making ornaments memories for seven years. Inspired by Christmas traditions, Susan and David Cherry's goal each season is crafting ornaments not only for a family's next Christmas but for their generation too.
The CDI way of doing business is nontraditional by today standards. Our ornaments are not designed by committee, nor bought for pennies from a faraway factory we've never seen nor sold in big box retailers for a couple bucks. Our currency is memories.
Each ornament starts as a spark of inspiration in the hearts and minds of our artists Susan and David Cherry. Susan sketches her ideas then pulls together fabric of many textures and colors to create a soft, plush figure. Small details are added until she's convinced each piece's proportion looks right and feels right in her hand. David starts from a sketch, too. His ideas are coaxed on paper with pen to a outline drawing. He adds strong color and contrast until he finds that right balance of the final shape.
We dedicate ourselves to manufacturing our art to last generations. Over seven years we've learned only true craftsmen, glass blowers and hand painters, using top grade material that are capable of turning CDI's delicate shapes and intricate finishes into ornaments. Our ornaments glass must be hand blown. Their final color and detail must be hand applied. CDI is not an importer. We have direct relationship with the few factories capable of hand crafting our art into ornaments. We spec each piece. We purchase our own molds. Each ornament's initial manufacturing run must meet our artistic standards before we commit to further production.
